Authorities have released additional information on the early morning McGinley Square shooting that killed one person and left two others wounded.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the shooting took place just before 6:30 a.m., when the Jersey City Police Department was notified of shots fired on Jordan Avenue.

Responding officers were led to a crime scene on Jordan Avenue between Mercer Street and Vroom Street. Three men were taken in private automobiles to Jersey City Medical Center.

Christoph Terrero Marte, 33, of Jersey City, was pronounced dead at approximately 7:35 a.m. Two additional victims, a 28-year-old Union City man and a 31-year-old Jersey City man, were treated for injuries that are not considered life threatening.

No arrests have been made yet. Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor at 201-915-1345 or to leave an anonymous tip. All information will be kept confidential.

The killing would represent the first reported homicide of 2024. Last year, Jersey City experienced ten homicides, the lowest in recent memory. The previous low of 11 homicides was recorded in 2011.
