A 21-year-old woman died this morning in a crash involving an automobile and a tractor trailer.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the Bloomfield woman was a passenger in an Audi automobile on Route 139 near John F. Kennedy Boulevard when at approximately 2:15 a.m. it was involved in a collision with the truck. The Audi was found on its roof with “extensive damage.”

The 22-year-old male driver of the Audi and the two passengers were taken by ambulance to Jersey City Medical Center. The woman passenger was pronounced dead at approximately 2:54 a.m. The driver and a 23-year-old male passenger, both of whom are from Newark, remain at the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The 53-year-old male driver of the tractor trailer, who remained at the scene, was not injured in the collision. 

During the preliminary investigation, the driver of the Audi was issued a motor vehicle summons by the responding JCPD officers.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case.
