Crime Scene Tape

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has released the name of the victim in yesterday’s Bergen-Lafayette shooting.

According to the report, Pedro Rodriguez, 16, of Jersey City was gunned down while inside “O’Lala Empanadas” at 600 Communipaw Avenue.

Police reports yesterday indicated that a suspect was seen leaving the area and that a stolen dark blue 2016 Subaru Legacy was seen fleeing from the crime scene.

An automobile stopped by state police shortly after, turned out not to be the automobile connected to the incident.

In the aftermath of the shooting, students from nearby Lincoln High School were ordered to return to the building.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department. No arrests have been made at this time. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor at 201-915-1345 or to leave an anonymous tip on the Hudson County Prosecutor’s official website. All information will be kept confidential.
