Two Newark men have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting in 2021.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, Khalil Kelley, 23, and Roger Pickett Jr., 22, have been charged in the shooting of 16-year-old Kaheem Taylor in Jersey City on March 29, 2021.

That night, just after 10:30 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department
responded to a report of shots fired in the area of 83 Bergen Avenue in Jersey City. The responding officers found Taylor with gunshot wounds to his upper body. Taylor was taken to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Kelley is charged with Murder; Conspiracy to Commit Murder; Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; Unlawful Possession of Weapon; and Certain Persons Not to Possess a Firearm. Pickett Jr. is charged with Murder as an Accomplice and Conspiracy to Commit Murder.

Kelly was arrested by members of the United States Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force at his place of employment in Hillside on December 9.

Pickett Jr. was arrested at the Hudson County Correctional Facility, where he is being detained on charges relating to the fatal shooting of Jovahn Horne in Jersey City on November 1.

Both are being held at the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending their first court appearances.
