Authorities are investigating the killing of two men over a 24-hour period.
Yesterday, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Jersey City police were called to the area of Oxford and West Side avenues following a report of an injured male. At 562 West Side Avenue they found an injured man who was pronounced dead at the scene two hours later.
The cause and manner of death await the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office and his identity is unknown at this time.
This morning, at approximately 3:15 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department responded to the area of Randolph Avenue on a report of shots fired. The responding officers found a man at 116 Randolph Avenue with apparent gunshot wounds to his torso and lower extremities.
The man, later identified as Rashaun Bell, age 24, of Jersey City, was taken by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The cause and manner of death await the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is actively investigating both cases with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department. No arrests have been made at this time.
