A 21-year-old Jersey City man was fatally shot Wednesday evening in Ferris Triangle Park near Rose and Cator Avenues and Old Bergen Road in Jersey City.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has announced that its Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating.
The shooting took place last night at approximately 8:22 p.m. The Jersey City Police Department responded to a call of shots fired at Ferris Triangle Park and found the victim – later identified as Alshaquir Duval – in front of 182 Cator Avenue.
Duval was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:32 p.m. The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
The recently renovated Triangle Park lies within the Greenville neighborhood. This would mark the 14th homicide in this year and continue a spike in gun deaths in major urban areas that began last year.
