Lion King: Drive-In Movie Night Series
The Exchange Place Alliance is hosting a drive-in movie series on certain Friday nights throughout the summer. This Friday they’ll be showing Disney’s star-studded 2019 adaptation of The Lion King. Snacks will be available for purchase, and there will be mask and social-distance rules in place.

Memorial Day 2021 event with JCFPL: Master Sergeant Jonathan V. Taylor and Issac Green
Memorial Day is more than just the unofficial start of the summer season: it’s a day to honor the military members who gave their lives in service to the United States. The Jersey City Free Public Library’s Issac Green is hosting a virtual event with Master Sergeant Jonathan V. Taylor in tribute to those servicemembers.

Go swimming at Pavonia/Marion Municipal Pool
Is it even Memorial Day Weekend if you don’t go swimming? You can do it in your own backyard at Jersey City’s Pavonia/Marion Municipal Pool. This outdoor facility is open to Jersey City residents only, so anyone 18 and older should be sure to bring proof of residency and photo ID. Also make sure you have a face covering with you. Check the website for hours.

Riverview Farmers Market
Stock up on your barbeque supplies while you support local business and agriculture! The Riverview Farmers Market will be open every Sunday until mid-November (weather permitting – any necessary closures will be announced on their Facebook and Instagram pages).

In For a Treat: MDW Rooftop Shabang!
Nothing like a rooftop party to ring in the summer! Porta Jersey City has been hosting TREAT parties for years, and they’re back with DJs, cocktails, and pizza. COVID safety restrictions will be in place for the safety of both staff and guests.

Wake and Rake at The Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery
The Historic Jersey City & Harsimus Cemetery is a must-see Jersey City landmark. With history stretching back to the Revolutionary War, it’s a beautiful and peaceful landscape with many pathways to explore. It was abandoned in 2008 before a new preservation movement was introduced in recent years, and you can be a part of the community upkeep effort. Every Saturday morning the cemetery hosts a Wake and Rake volunteer landscaping event. Make sure to wear covered shoes, and long sleeves and pants are probably a good idea, too.

StandUp Outside! Comedy @ The Brightside
The Brightside Tavern’s Sunday evening comedy series continues! Rich Kiamco hosts and the lineup includes Zach Zimmerman, a New Yorker contributor, and Christiana Jackson, winner of the Jersey City Comedy Festival. The show will be socially-distanced and, as the name suggests, it will be outdoors.

Opening of the Liberty Science Center’s Hot Wheels: Race to Win Exhibit
Liberty Science Center, with its giant planetarium dome (the largest in the Western Hemisphere!) is a Jersey City staple. It’s newest exhibition opens this Saturday and it’s perfect for the toy race car enthusiast in your life. The Hot Wheels: Race to Win exhibit is interactive, and features human-sized race car lessons alongside the Mattel toys.

Visit Stack Creamery for some incredible ice cream sandwiches
Bring on the warm weather, bring on the ice cream! Stack Creamery opened their second location in Jersey City last month, and it’s the perfect treat for a long weekend. The family-owned shop crafts custom ice cream sandwiches with cookies they make from scratch, so let your imagination run wild as you treat yourself.

Smorgasburg Opens in Jersey City
The iconic Brooklyn food market is coming to Jersey City! Starting this Saturday, the outdoor gastronomic spectacle will be open on the east side of the Hudson, and will feature around 30 food vendors with a variety of tasty things to try. Bring a mask and expect some social distancing rules to be in place.
