Jersey City Reads Poems One Year Anniversary at WORD

Head to WORD this Friday evening to celebrate the first anniversary of Jersey City Reads Poems, which has had previous events at places like Jersey City Theater Center and is a “poetry reading series and program celebrating local Jersey City-based poets and beyond. The series seeks to capture the unique richness of diversity and culture that this city offers, with accessibility, equity, and compensation at its core mission.” 

The Laugh Tour Comedy Club at Dorrian’s Jersey City

The Laugh Tour Comedy Club continues its run at Dorrian’s Red Hand this weekend. Attendees must be 16 years of age or older. 

Dance Congress at Jersey City Ballroom

This Saturday, Jersey City Ballroom will be hosting this daylong special event. It will be “a day of dancing with 3 different workshops on Lindy Hop Swing, Salsa, and Hustle,” followed by student and instructor performance showcases. Breakfast and lunch is included.  

Trailblazers Volunteer Day at Liberty State Park

“Join the LSP Trailblazers to help improve our trails by removing invasive weeds and vines from the Richard J. Sullivan Natural Area and scraping invasive spotted lanternfly egg cases from trees.” This event is not recommended for children under 10 years of age. Attendees must register in advance.  

The Sacred Comedy Show

The Sacred Comedy Show is back this Saturday. This event is a “more conscious kind of standup, where comedy meets wellness,” and will be featuring “Light group meditation, connective exercises, and standup performances,” plus a Mini POP-UP Market before the show. 

Bloom at Home: Supporting In Full Color’s BIPOC Artists

“Enjoy drinks, food & live performances while supporting BIPOC theater artists.” There will be music, comedy, poetry, and refreshments at this fundraising event.

The Jersey City Free Public Library Community Awareness Series will be celebrating Jazz Appreciation Month this Saturday at the Miller Branch with a tribute to the late Paul Abler, featuring live music from the Paul Abler Legacy Group.
