Spring Break starts this weekend in Jersey City, and there’s plenty of ways to celebrate. The Butterfly House at Liberty Science Center is open, Wizard Fest will be at White Eagle Hall, and The Pink Floyd Project will be at 902 Brewing Co. Plus, there’s lots of art, live music, and ways to celebrate nature.
Butterfly House at Liberty Science Center
Liberty Science Center’s Butterfly House pop-up exhibition is now open. “Feel the magic of hundreds of painted lady and monarch butterflies fluttering around you, feeding on plants and nectar, and landing on your shoulder or finger. You’ll even meet some caterpillars, too!”

BLURRED TIME: a group installation
This “experimental installation featuring 13 artists of ART150” is opening this Friday with a Meet the Artists Reception. Works on display include everything from bronze sculpture to digital video loops and glowing rice paper. ART150 “is a collective of artists working at 150 Bay,” and “represents the fulfillment of the promise of what the Jersey City Powerhouse Arts District was originally intended to represent.”

Acid Rain: A collection of artworks by Marisela Vanegas Alas
Electric Jungle presents “Acid Rain – a solo exhibit by Salvadoran born abstract expressionist artist Marisela Vanegas Alas,” which will be having an opening reception this Friday evening, and an Artist Talk on Saturday. “Marisela created each piece on her mobile phone using only free software and a hollow, aluminum dollar-store stylus. The signature fuscia accent colour of the collection is the result of a glitch in the software, which lagged under the maximum resolution parameters.”
