A second teen has been charged in connection with a December killing in Bergen-Lafayette.
The 17 year-old youth, who has not been identified due to his age, surrendered to detectives with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit in Jersey City yesterday.
He has been charged in the shooting death of 16 year-old Pedro Rodriguez. Rodriguez — a student at Snyder High School — was gunned down on the morning of December 16 while inside “O’Lala Empanadas” at 600 Communipaw Avenue.
He is charged as a juvenile with Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. He is being detained at the Morris County Juvenile Detention Center pending his first court appearance.
Another 17 year-old juvenile was arrested on December 27 and charged in Rodriguez’s death. He was charged with Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Information about both youths is limited due to their ages.
