A 50-year-old man is in critical but stable condition following a fire yesterday Downtown.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, smoke at 309 10th Street was first reported at 12:11 p.m. Upon entry to the home, members of the Jersey City Fire Department found the man, who was unresponsive.
He was taken by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center. He was subsequently transferred to the burn unit at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston for further treatment.
The initial investigation by the Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force has determined that the fire does not appear suspicious at this time, however, the origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.
The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Fire Department.
