A Jersey City man has been convicted of all charges relating to the sexual assault of his stepdaughter.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, on Friday, the 39-year-old man was convicted by a jury of Aggravated Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault by Contact, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The crimes occurred in Jersey City between 2018 and 2020 when the victim was 8 and 9 years old.

The State was represented at trial by Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Dennis Murray.

The verdict was delivered before Judge Mitchell L. Pascual, following a three day trial.

“Crimes on children are heinous, even more so when the defendant is trusted to care and provide for the victim,” said Assistant Prosecutor Dennis Murray. “We thank the jury for its service in this matter and are hopeful this conviction provides healing to the victim on the continued road to recovery.”

The defendant faces 25 years to life in New Jersey State Prison at sentencing, which is tentatively scheduled for May 19. He is subject to Parole Supervision for Life and Megan’s Law registration.
