Thank you for the remembrance of Eugene “Hamp” McKnight.
I just wanted you know that he was a founding member of the Youngmen Social Civic Club in Jersey City. Young men from every public and private high school were members and mentored by “Hamp” about education, non drug use, family, self worth and community. For me it started in 1971 and many of his words remain fresh.
I just wanted you to know that there are many, many, many Youngmen who respected and loved Eugene McKnight long before his involvement in “local politics.” A good mentor and club brother.
