Winning Events Group has announced that York Street Project will be this year’s beneficiary of the Exchange Place Corporate Challenge 5K race slated for Thursday, June 16 at 6 p.m. in Liberty State Park.

Since its founding in 1989, York Street has provided shelter, food, child care, and other services for women and children in an effort to break the cycle of poverty and help clients become self-sufficient. The organization was chosen out of 19 charities in the immediate area.

“We are so excited to announce this partnership with York Street Project,” said Elvi Guzman, President of Winning Events Group. “This event is a great way to incorporate our corporate participants with an excellent organization that helps so many families in the community.”

Organizers also hope local companies will use the race to promote health and team building in the workplace. Event “partners” include City Challenge, BMW and Augustin Orthopedics. Bank of America, the United Nations, and Jackson Hewitt will also be sponsoring teams.

Race participants can pick up their event packets early on Wednesday, June 15 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at York Street Project’s annual fundraiser, Evening Under the Stars.

Also sponsoring the event is the Exchange Place Alliance.
