A Jersey City man has pleaded guilty to a gun charge and is now facing a potential sentence of ten years imprisonment.
On July 11, 2020 a man was shot in the leg near Martin Luther King Drive and Oak Street. A surveillance video showed that Andre Cannon, 29, was the shooter. While executing a search warrant at Cannon’s house, police stationed near the back of the house saw Cannon throw a black Beretta Gardone .40-caliber handgun loaded with ten rounds of ammunition out of the first floor window.
Cannon was previously convicted of unlawful possession of a handgun, a felony. His plea to the charge of unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon means that he faces a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
