A Jersey City man has been convicted in the 2018 Greenville shooting death of a man from Bayonne.

According to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, on Thursday, James Crawford, 24, was convicted for his role in the shooting death of Eric Crocker, 23, on September 4, 2018.

That afternoon, the Jersey City Police Department received a report of gunshots in the area of Lembeck Avenue and Ocean Avenue in Jersey City. Upon arrival, they found Crocker with multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. He was pronounced dead at Jersey City Medical Center shortly after. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Crocker’s death a homicide.

The jury convicted Crawford of Murder, Possession of a Weapon, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon but failed to reach a verdict as to his codefendant, Alexander Harris, 33, also of Jersey City, who was charged with Murder and Conspiracy to Commit Murder. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office intends to retry Harris on the charges.

A third codefendant, Jahmir Thomas, pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault on April 23, 2021. He is tentatively scheduled to be sentenced on April 4.

The verdict against Crawford was delivered before Judge Angelo Servidio.  The State was represented at trial by Hudson County Assistant Prosecutors David Feldman and Dennis Murray.
