A Jersey City man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting in Greenville.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, Brandon Montague, 24, was arrested today in Newport News, Virginia by the United States Marshals Service.

Montague is charged in the March 4 death of Tyreef Robinson, 34, of Jersey City.

Shortly after 10:10 p.m. that night, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a shooting in the area of 2 Bergen Avenue. Responding officers found Robinson with a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:27 p.m. The Regional Medical Examiner’s Officer determined the Cause of Death to be a gunshot wound to the torso and bilateral lower extremity and the manner to be homicide. 

Montague is being detained at the Newport News Jail as a Fugitive from Justice pending extradition to New Jersey. He is charged with Murder, Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
