A Jersey City man has been arrested in a fatal shooting at a smoke shop in Greenville.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, yesterday members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit arrested 28-year-old Anton Mair, of Jersey City, in connection with the fatal shooting of Khalil King on April 23, 2023.
King, 23, of Fayetteville, North Carolina was shot inside a smoke shop located at 152 Danforth Avenue at approximately 12 midnight. When police arrived, they found King unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
The Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the head and the manner to be homicide.
Mair is charged with Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. He was arrested at a residence on East 12th Street in Bayonne and taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.
Prosecutor Suarez credited the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, the Jersey City Police Department, and the Bayonne Police Department with the investigation and arrest.
