A Jersey City man was arrested yesterday and charged in connection with the death of a Lindenwold mother of two, Norelis Mendoza, who was found dead in Bayonne on Wednesday.   

The Jersey Journal has reported that the man, Gregory Mallard, 35, is the father of Mendoza’s two children, served 10 years in prison for aggravated manslaughter and is reputed to be a member of the “52 Hoover Street Crips” gang.

Mallard has been charged with Murder; Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (vehicle); Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose (vehicle); Failing to Dispose of Human Remains in a Manner Prescribed by Law; Desecration of Human Remains; Hindering; and Tampering with Physical Evidence. He is currently in custody in Somerset County. This matter is being investigated as an act of domestic violence. 

Mendoza’s lifeless body was found in Bayonne on Wednesday, close to the border of Jersey City and near Route 440. She was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Mendoza, 32, was reportedly last seen on Saturday dropping her daughter off at her mother’s house at Montgomery Street and Monmouth Street in Jersey City. She was reported missing on Sunday.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit, the Jersey City Police Department, the Bayonne Police Department, and New Jersey State Police have all been involved in the investigation.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are actively investigating this case.
