Police are reporting that a man has been shot and killed in Bergen-Lafayette.

According to radio transmissions, the man was shot in the back four to five times in front of 29 Belmont Avenue.

A male wearing a gold, brown or tan jacket was seen running south on Crescent Avenue from Belmont Avenue.  Four shell casings were found at the scene.

A passerby, who asked to remain anonymous, reports being close enough to hear the shots and was “terrified.”

The police are blocking off Belmont Ave. and Summit Ave.

The “ceasefire unit” has been called in. The investigation is ongoing.
