Crime Scene Tape

A wild shooting involving two cars took place this afternoon near McGinley Square. Minutes later, a carjacking was reported Downtown.

Just before 2 p.m., a silver 2008 Honda Accord reportedly began chasing a black Kia in the vicinity of Jewett Ave. and Monticello Ave. The Kia then crashed near 91 Belmont Ave. Eleven shell casings were found at the scene.

There were no reported injuries.

The Honda — described as having gold rims and the words “PIRI SUSPENSION” in the back window — fled the scene.

A short time later, a carjacking was reported Downtown.

According to radio reports, the seller of a Chrysler 200 arranged to meet a buyer near Beacon Place and Montgomery Street. When the buyers arrived, they moved to Mercer Loop, where the buyers entered the car. At 329 Wayne Street, the buyers forced the seller out of the car, claiming to have a gun.
