Emergency Closing of the the Jersey City Public Schools Starting March 16
However out an abundance of caution the district’s schools will close the the week of Monday, March 16 to review risks and decide if they will remain closed another week. They will assess the available information at that time and notify everyone as soon as possible.

The Jersey City Public School District is preparing for the possibility that a spread of the COVID-19 virus in the U.S. may impact school attendance, and/or require the closure of schools. The district is planning to provide a combination of educational packets and electronic learning opportunities in the event the New Jersey Department of Health or the Jersey City Department of Health recommends school closures.

Neighborhood associations in the Heights sponsored an education debate for candidates running for the school board. It was held in PS 28 on Oct. 10, 2019.
The forum was co-sponsored by the Riverview Neighborhood Association, Washington Park Association, Heights Community Coalition, Sgt. Anthony Neighborhood Association and the Pershing Field Neighborhood Association.
