Anthony Armagno

Anthony J. Armagno, 87, of Palmer Township, passed away at home peacefully on Monday, April 17, 2023 with his loving family by his side.

Anthony was born in Sant’ Arsenio in the province of Salerno, Italy to the late Giuseppe and Angelina (Mele) Armagno.  After arriving from Italy, Anthony spent a large portion of his life in Jersey City, NJ.  He graduated from St. Michael’s High School, class of 1953.

Anthony started working at the early age of 9 with the sudden death of his father.  He felt an enormous responsibility to take care of his mom and sisters.  He carried that hard work and dedication throughout his life working for over 30 years at Western Electric in Kearney, NJ as a cable former and then working for 13 years managing a check cashing service after medical issues forced his retirement at age 49.

In 1988, his son, Tony, founded Armagno Agency Inc. with his his mother Louise. Last year, the Armagno Agency became Howard Hanna Rand Realty.

Anthony was a sweet, kind, gentle man that was loved by all.  He was a very spiritual person and dedicated his life to pleasing God and his family and was always offering help to anyone in need.  He was the real deal – such a genuine person.

Losing his wife, Louise, this past year was very difficult but they enjoyed a wonderful life of 62 years together, 25 of those years being retired.  Anthony loved being outdoors and you could always find him tending to his garden, keeping busy in his garage or soaking up the sun on his patio.  He would say every day was a gift from God whether he was helping to feed the homeless, enjoying his weekly poker games with his friends, clipping coupons, or spending time with his family.

Anthony never complained as he battled his many illnesses throughout the years.  But rather felt blessed to have lived this long and was looking forward to that beautiful place called Heaven.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his loving family, his son, Anthony and wife Roberta of Stewartsville, NJ; his daughter, Francine Bisio and husband George of Westerly, RI; his grandchildren, Nicholas, Anthony, Nicolo’ and Valentina; his sisters, Rose Indyk and Josephine Verni and many other extended family members.  Anthony was predeceased in death by his eldest daughter, Cheryl Ann.
