An 83 year-old Jersey City woman who was struck by a hit and run driver last night has died from her injuries.
The woman, Judy Baller-Fabian, was crossing John F. Kennedy Boulevard on the way to an “Introduction to Judaism” class at Temple Beth-El when she was hit, according to Tom Rosensweet, President of the synagogue.
Ms. Baller-Fabian had recently become a member of the reform congregation.
Police were called to the the scene near Harrison Avenue at approximately 7:20 p.m.
Ms. Baller-Fabian was taken to Jersey City Medical Center in critical condition. She died tonight at approximately 6 p.m.
The driver who struck the woman fled the scene in a red/maroon sedan. The accident was captured on a security camera.
The events surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department. No charges have been filed at this time.
